My little bug is now 41 weeks and 2 days old.
I calculated his due date to be on July 18th, 2017. The doctors said July 23rd. This would have meant that we would have conceived when my mom was visiting. This did not happen. Therefore, I know I was right – he was due on the 18th.
Mama is always right, right?
None the less, he didn’t come until we evicted him on July 27th. This means he cooked in my belly for 41 weeks and 2 days. He has officially been out in the world for the same amount of time that he spent in my womb.
There were so many things about pregnancy that I loved, and a few that I do not miss.
Pregnancy is a special time where you are closer to your babe than you will ever be again. You spend every moment with them and are responsible for every part of them. You are growing a human. Making them from scratch. It is beautiful and exhausting and oh so worth it.
You get to spend every night with him cuddled next to you. You feel every kick, nudge, and hiccup. That babe is with you while you eat, drive, and shower. He is your companion and confidant. When all of those pregnancy hormones
rage gently come out, he is there to comfort and remind you – this is all worth it.
My dear August,
Today, we celebrate the 41 weeks and 2 days that you and I shared together in my womb, and the 41 weeks and 2 days we have spent adventuring together here in this big world. I am so glad that we had that time, but I am even more thrilled that I get to spend many more weeks and days seeing you grow, change, and explore.
Here’s a timeline of those precious weeks… starting with when you were only 4 weeks big…
And at 41 weeks…
